Learning to ski

Ski camp in the winter vacations in Schöneck

The anticipation was great when on Monday, February 20, after a 2-year break from Corona, we finally went back to the ski camp in Schöneck. Immediately after arrival and lunch, we went to the slopes, where we first divided into skiers and snowboarders.

Our ski instructor Mr. Auerswald showed us all the important basics when skiing downhill and gave us very helpful tips, e.g. you should always stand at right angles to the slope when on skis, because otherwise you won't find a foothold and will slide down. We rode behind him in the snowplow, called "Pizza", and so we went down safely in single file, turn by turn.

That was a lot of fun and we have also done quite well as absolute ski beginners, at least no one has hurt. Sure you fall down sometimes, but practice makes perfect! This was also the case with the snowboarders, who fell down more often, because snowboarding is much more difficult than skiing.

Nevertheless, we managed everything very well, because most of us, who were on skis or snowboard for the first time on Monday, were already able to safely ski down the steep red and even steeper black slopes on Wednesday!

The evening programs were also very nice, from exciting table tennis matches to a hilarious carnival party and a wet and happy visit to the swimming pool, everything was there😊.
